February 25, 2008

Arsenal and Croatian International striker Eduardo da Silva has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after acquiring a horrific injury in their clash with Birmingham. Reports revealed that he has broken his foot in two ways after a vicious tackle by Martin Taylor just three minutes into the match. Even the players on the pitch was shocked to see Eduardo’s injury, making an impact on the game right away as Taylor was given the red card and marching orders. What took 8 minutes in suspended play felt like forever as the medical team tried to remove Eduardo from the pitch and rush him to the Hospital.

Here are some images of the freak injury which was not even aired because of the possible distaste with the wide audience of the match:

The season is over for Eduardo, and could take some more time recovering from the dreaded injury. But Arsenal manager Arsene Wegner and Croatia Manager Slaven Bilic are optimistic and supportive of Eduardo and wishes his swift and safe recovery back to form and into the pitch. Eduardo was born in Brasil and the Brasilian squad couuld only regret that Eduardo has opted to play for Croatia after acquiring Citizenship in the country. Brasil is looking for a Striker of Eduardo’s caliber to be the heir of the throne that Ronaldo left in the National squad.
